Winfield cabin is one of the westernmost cabins on the ranch, providing unobstructed views into the San Isabel National Forest. The porch deck offers a splendid overlook of the valley itself, allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy the sunset behind the mountains from the comfort of their cabin. It is a homey spot with a pleasant and open dining room, large pane windows facing the mountains, as well as an adjoining kitchen with plenty of space to prepare an afternoon snack for the family.

History:

Winfield is one of the more prominent and intact ghost towns near Buena Vista, located in Clear Creek Canyon, along with 3 other fairly intact ghost towns. Being just a few miles northwest of town, it is a popular area for many to explore and learn about the mining history of the area, especially on the select days the cabins are open to the public. There are still a number of standing buildings including the local schoolhouse from the town’s heyday in the 1890’s.

Summer Program Weeks

  • Our 2022 summer program begins on June 4, 2022 and ends on August 16, 2022. Enjoy a minimum 7-night stay with each week beginning and ending on a Saturday. Partial-week stays may be available; please contact us to inquire.

Fall, Winter and Spring Reservations

  • Deer Valley Hot Springs Ranch is a year-round destination! Enjoy a 2-night minimum stay during the fall, winter, and spring, or a 3-night minimum during designated holiday windows.

Deposit

  • 50% of your subtotal is due as a deposit at the time of booking.

Taxes and Fees

  • Rates do not reflect all possible fees and taxes or gratuity. The tax rates are 7.55% on lodging and 5.65% on meals. Additional optional charges may include offsite expeditions and gear rental, babysitting, or purchases from the Trading Post or Lickety Split Ice Cream and Coffee Shop.

Gratuity

  • Tipping is not automatically added to your invoice. However, we suggest 15 to 20% of your lodging, meals, horseback riding, and in-house expeditions for our wonderful staff. Tips are divided equally among all staff.

Cancellations and Changes

  • Cancellations for summer reservations made 120 days or more from scheduled arrival date will receive a partial refund.  We will refund the deposit less a $250.00 per accommodation cancellation fee. No refund for cancellations made within 120 days of scheduled arrival date. This also applies to a reduction of individuals and to dropped accommodations of a multi-unit reservation. For reservations and deposits made within 120 days, there is no refund for cancellations or reduction in numbers.
  • For off-season reservations our cancellation policy is as follows: Any cancellations within 14 days of the check-in day will not receive a refund. Cancellations made outside of the 14 day window will receive a 75% refund of the total price.
  • Reservations will be charged as made. Late arrivals, early departures or shortened stays will be charged at full rate.

Payment Methods

  • We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, personal checks and cash. All payments are due prior to departing the ranch.

Check-In and Check-Out

  • Check-in time is 4:00 PM. Check-out time is 10:00 AM.

Pets

  • Four DVR cabins are dog friendly! If you are booking in Romley, Pomeroy, Iron City, or St. Elmo, you are welcome to bring your dog. Lodge Rooms 3, 4, and 5 are also dog-friendly. There is a $50 pet fee added to your invoice if you choose to bring your dog. All dogs must be on a leash when outside, and please pick up after your pet. Accommodations may be subject to a $250 pet damage fee if our housekeepers find any pet damages. We recommend kenneling the dogs inside if you are away to minimize this chance. Sorry, no cats permitted.

Alcohol & Smoking

  • No alcohol outside cabins or in common areas. No smoking in any ranch buildings or cabins. We are a NO MARIJUANA facility.

  • We would love to host your group, retreat, or conference! Off-season and group rates are available from late August through May. Contact us for more details.
