Colorado Family Vacation

These three words summarize Deer Valley Ranch.  Our dude ranch vacation in the heart of our beautiful Colorado mountains is the perfect place to spend time with your kids and teens while on a family vacation.  Family dude ranches have a long history of inviting guests into their own family home.  In this case, our family ranch is in the third generation of caring for folks at our guest ranch.  We grew up here and we have a lot to share with you.  Colorado is a magical place in so many ways and Deer Valley Ranch is filled with the wonder of God's creation.  The spectacular mountain backdrop surrounding our family ranch provides the perfect place to explore hiking trails, ride across flower-filled meadows and fish in timberline lakes.

We are well aware that we live in a complex world, filled with shifting communications, social media and cultural pressures.  We live in it too.  But...we want to provide a place where you can spend a family vacation together in an atmosphere that is conducive to bonding with your kids and teens.  Our Colorado dude and guest ranch has provided that to thousands of families over the last 58 years. A Colorado family vacation can be the place to reconnect with everyone in the family. 

We love to host family reunions because there is a lot to do for all ages.  From six in the morning when we start a fire in our lodge and brew the coffee, until ten at night when the evening program wraps up (except for the teens who might be out by the campfire), our guest ranch will keep you busy.  Early hikes along the ridge, two different cookout breakfasts, nature walks and time alone reading God's Word up by the Chalk Cliffs, are all good ways to start the day at our family ranch.  During the heart of each day on our guest ranch, you might be riding, river rafting, enjoying a round of golf, learning to fly fish, hiking to an 1890s silver mine, or just enjoying our Colorado sunshine at the hot springs swimming pools.  After dinner, it is time for square dancing or taking a hayride, a staff show or a history talk.  A Colorado family vacation should include a full spectrum of activities and our ranch vacation does just that.

Sharing a thrilling raft trip with your kids, watching your daughter take her first horseback ride, taking a breath of our cool mountain air, or just leaning against a big Ponderosa on the ridge, you will get a sense of stepping away from some of the daily pressures of life.  We hope your soul is renewed, your family is strengthened and your sense of adventure is satisfied. 

Our dude ranch still offers you the chance to enjoy unique experiences.  While you may prefer to work your horse in our arena or fish in the ranch lake, we can also take you on "experimental" hikes, ride uncharted trails or recommend a fishing stream where no one else goes (it might be a bit of a hike).  Some of our ranch guests get out their GPS and topo maps and go off to explore old mines and hidden trails.  This dude ranch might make you a trail hand or savvy mountain guide by the time you leave.
